If we want more adventure games in the near future, then we are going to have to write them ourselves! By adventure games I mean games that can be played at a nice slow thoughtful pace rather than games that are action or role-playing hybrids. Why write the games ourselves? need more freeware games
I agree with what you 're saying. But I have some extra comments about the lack of interest for adventure games. It's a fact that most of the software companies are american. So it's natural to release products that american consumers mostly like. And forgive me for saying it, but the majority of Americans are not very keen in thinking-they prefer action. Perhaps this is what the people with power want. Killing, running against time, avoiding missiles, watching wonderfull graphics etc prevents mind to THINK deeper. Mind is trained to stay in the surface and games is a very good way to do this mostly to young people. So my opinion is that adventure games are condemned, at least for USA market. Just look what the PC magazines say all the time about them.
