Before 3D games come to prominence, there are the 2D platform games. Essentially, you control a character across a side scrolling map, jumping over platforms which are suspended in midair while collecting power ups and weapon upgrades that are scattered on screen. For years these have been the dominant genre in computer games. In 1992, amidst this popular gaming trend, Delphine Software releases…

I've only played the Genesis version and though it was a tough game to play, I was able to beat it in Easy and Normal (still working on my timing for Hard). It's a fun little platformer. Flashback: The Quest for Identity had a sequal and if memory serves me correctly, it had a scientist that had no weapons who was ported into an alien planet and had to kick at black jaguars or something. That game was terrible! don't touch it with a 10 foot stick! I hope they give Flashback a 3D update and don't have it in limbo like Vectorman (that would have been so cool!), or completely atrocious like Robocop (what were they thinking??).
My only gripe about this review is when Conrad approaches an enemy and starts 'windmilling'. He's pistol-whipping, not flailing his arms. When someone gets too close to shoot at(since shooting needs a ranged target) you have to get up close and personal and whup on them! That is what I assume to be Delphi's logic.
Also, the Genesis version (I have both that and PC) is just as good as the PC version, if not better!
I seem to remember someone saying that the game "Fade to Black" on PSone was a sequel or set in the same universe as "Flashback".
With games likes Prince of Persia being revamped and given a new license on Playstation 2, I'd love to see something similarly done with Flashback, perhaps have stealth and puzzle elements in it.
hey guy i like that games flashback
never seen before flashback 2
Actually when opponents are close enough the swinging arm movement actually hurts opponents. In some situations it can be quite useful, but against the morphing aliens it does not work.
Only for such story? I don' think so. Even now im paying it 4 its athmosphere! I play since ZX-Spectrum till nowdays, and this is REALLY my favourite game. Don't think im strange, its just real love.
P.S. Sorry 4 bad english.. =)
Are their any other games by developer Delphine Software International. Is their a sequel to Flashback the Quest for Identity. I really enjoyed that game if their is any other platform/puzzle game you know of like Flashback let me know.
In your Flashback walk through towards the end of Level 2 it says "Insert the correct card in the right spot"
For the intellectually challenged - what the hell does that mean? I've got the card and and I'm at the terminal and not matter how much I hit the button to "activate/use" the card, nothing works and the reactor blows up. This is probably the wrong spot for this, but I'm not finding the right spot so this will have to do for my venting if no answer is forthcoming.
Was there a game before flashback? started off with a black beast chasing you trough two screens, or was that flashback !
What site could I buy the following game:
"Flashback:The Quest for Identity"
