King's Quest 1 was finally remade again by AGD Interactive on January of 2009. The graphics have been remade, it has narrator voices, new animations, and also feature a "no dead-ends" mode that makes sure the game is beatable from (almost) any save file, even though Graham can still die from random hazards.
I've been playing adventure games for long enough to get a personally autographed letter from Mark Crowe. Excellent article. Gonna have to look for the Vivendi pack you mentioned.
Thanks for the trip.
Interesting article and am enjoyable read.
I did observe a typo though, in the first paragraph under the "1984 AGI release" heading.
"The fourth version debuted in November 2004, nearly 12 months after the game first debuted on the PCjr."
Obviously that year is incorrect.
Also did you know the PC booter edition, while nearly identical to the AGI edition, only required half the memory. It used 128K RAM as oppose to AGI's 256K. For a while there in 1987-88, Sierra would list and sell both editions in their catalogs.
